DuBose Newborn Session: Deacon and Finley

Thursday, May 8, 2014

The relationship between a brother and a sister is a special thing; an unbreakable bond. Little Finley isn't even two, but the love she already shows to her new baby brother Deacon is beautiful. It's evident in the tender way she holds him, the little forehead kisses she gives, and the peace on Deacon's face cradled in his big sister's arms. It was such a blessing to capture a few pictures of them together in the DuBose's beautiful Gloucester home.

Mandi Maternity Session

In pregnancy, there are two bodies, one inside the other. Two people live under one skin… When so much of life is dedicated to maintaining our integrity as distinct human beings, this bodily tandem is an uncanny fact.

April 13th is going to be here SO soon! Can't wait to meet the little man :)

Beattie Maternity Session

Monday, March 3, 2014

The winter is a unique time to take pictures. From a distance, a winter landscape can look harsh, and the weather seem tumultuous and unfriendly. But there's really a lot of beauty to be found in a subdued environment of snow-covered ground and bare trees. And a lot of meaning in the empty scenery. Winter is a time when the earth sleeps, awaiting the coming spring; when all will bloom and hum with life once again. It was such a pleasure to do a maternity shoot with this beautiful couple at this time of the year; both the winter season and the Beattie's are in a time of expectation for wonderful life to come. Capturing some photos of Bethany and Jon before their sweet baby's birth was such a pleasure (I'm in awe of the love they share for one another, along with their ability to trudge through snow and endure frigid temperatures!). Their little one will have a lot of love in his/her life :)

I'll like you for always

Things have been a little chilly here in New England lately. And by a little chilly, I of course mean FREEZE YOUR FINGERS OFF FRIGID (sorry... lil' Arizonan/alliteration moment there.). But today, it broke 40 degrees, so I decided to take my little man outside for a mini photo shoot to maybe get a Christmas card shot. I didn't anticipate welling up in tears halfway through though. Everyone says, "they grow so fast", and dang it, they're right. Today I realized (for the millionth time, it seems) Beckett is turning into such a beautiful person, I almost can't stand it. Every time he says, "Pleeeeeaase", without me having to ask him to, every time he throws a ball and chuckles at it landing right in front of his feet, every time he throws a massive, totally uncalled for dance party to Miley Cyrus' Wrecking Ball, every time he cuddles into me fresh from a nap, I can't stand it. He's a champ, and I'm the luckiest mom around.
